Babysitters Charging $60 for New Years Services


0004722-year-old New Yorker Haley Jones will be one of many making great money on the biggest party night of the year.

Baby sitters are bringing in the big bucks this holiday season, creating tension among parents who feel they’re being held to ransom. $40-$50 is not the normal fee for Jones of course.

“My usual rate is from $17 to $22 an hour, but there’s always a dramatic markup for that night,” explains Jones, who lives in Harlem. She advertises her services on the popular Web site UrbanSitter — and notes that some of her peers will be making as much as $60 an hour.
