There is quite literally a mobile app for just about every task, activity and organization that you could think of. Applications, however, can be used for so much more than solely entertainment purposes. Believe it or not, there are applications out there than can even help you earn extra money.

While this isn’t to say that you’ll get rich quick or make a living off of said apps, if you’re hoping to make enough to support your weekly dinner out, you’re in luck. Here are ten mobile apps that can provide you with a cash surplus.

1. Swagbucks

Swagbucks allows you to accumulate points that you can then redeem for rewards, like gift cards to Walmart, Target and Amazon, or for cash deposited into your PayPal account. You earn points by opting to complete a variety of tasks such as browsing the Internet, watching videos, taking polls, taking surveys, and even entering contests. You won’t accumulate significant cash, but it’s enough to purchase a latte now and then.

2. Letgo

If your home is cluttered with stuff you don’t use or are looking to get rid of sometime soon, you might as well utilize letgo and make some money off of it. Letgo lets you sell just about anything easily, quickly, and all at no cost to you. All you have to do is download the app, take a photo of the item you want to sell and upload it. It’s a great way to get rid of your old stuff and make money. If you are looking for stock photography I recommend visiting eyeem.com

3. iPoll

If you don’t mind completing surveys, iPoll is a great way to earn extra cash. You can earn money or opt for subscriptions, airline miles and gift cards with the money you earn off of iPoll. Each 15 to 20-minute survey will usually earn you $1, but some can pay up to $10. Again, you might not earn income quickly, but it is a quick and easy way to do so when you have a spare moment.

However, if you fail to meet your goal, you’ll be the one that has to pay.

5. BookScouter

As an avid reader, I often accumulate more books than I actually have space for. That being said, when you pay $30 for a hardcover, it’s sometimes hard to just give them away. If you happen to be anything like me, then Bookscouter is the app for you. Simply enter or scan the barcode of the book you’d like to sell, and then examine the buyback offers from various used-book sites. Choose the best offer available to you, ship your book at no cost, and repeat with other titles you’d like to sell.

10. Ibotta

With Ibotta you can use your purchases and receipts to earn cash. Ibotta gives you rebates when you take pictures of your various receipts. There’s an array of rebates available for different stores and items. For example, you can earn a rebate of anywhere from 50 cents to $10 by simply showing that you purchased milk, or that you took a trip to your favorite store. That being said, don’t go out and buy random or extraneous stuff just to earn rebates, as that sort of defeats the purpose.

It’s likely that you spend a large portion of your day on your mobile device already, so why not make extra money while doing so? It may not seem like much money at first, but you’d be surprised how quickly some of these easy and fast tasks can add up.
