Everything Finance Monthly Round Up: Black Friday and Cyber Monday Edition

Published on Nov 25 2012 // Written By // Personal Finance

This year Black Friday became Black Thursday with many retailers opening their doors to shoppers on Thanksgiving night.  Did you brave the crowds, or do you prefer to snag your deals on Cyber Monday from the quiet of your home or office?  I am a fan of Cyber Monday, and I am looking forward to the deals that may be offered.

Around the web, I have been reading some excellent personal finance articles.  Here are some of my favorites:

  1. My Personal Finance Journey asks us to reconsider what we really “need”.  How many of these luxuries can you do without?
  2. If you are a blogger, you will appreciate My Multiple Incomes comprehensive list of affiliate marketing companies.
  3. Daily Money Shot reveals 15 truths she has learned about money from years of reading personal finance blogs and books.
  4. Frugal Confessions, who lives in Texas, still hasn’t turned on her heat.  How long could you tolerate a 60 degree house?
  5. Afraid to ask for a raise?  Free Money Wisdom gives you 5 steps to ask for a raise and suggests you do so, even in this economy.
  6. The interest rate for savings accounts is the bane of all good savers, but Financial Samurai shows how to increase the money you earn on your emergency fund.
  7. Retire by 40 shares the many reasons he is thankful this year, including his adorable 22 month old and freedom from the corporate world.
  8. Could you retire by 40 even if you are currently living on one income?  Wealth Informatics plans to and details exactly how.
  9. Many personal finance bloggers applaud peer to peer lending, but Edward Antrobus argues that it is a scam.
  10. Would you be willing to take a $30k home improvement risk?  Afford Anything is and shares why she thinks her plan will work.  (Love the kitchen redesign!)
  11. Speaking of housing, Bible Money Matters explains the rock star benefits of owning a duplex.
